One of the main challenges for feed manufacturers is to achieve good palatability to guarantee optimal feed intake. One of the most frequent strategies to stimulate feed intake is flavours and sweeteners addition. One of our customers recently performed a trial to evaluate the effect of FLUIDAROM 1084 milk-vanilla flavor on feed consumption and production parameters in a commercial lamb farm in Spain.
For this trial, which lasted 16 days, 55 lambs were divided into two groups (27 for the control group and 28 for the group supplemented with Fluidarom 1084). The treatment group received the feed of the Control group + FLUIDAROM 1084 at a dose of 0.75kg/tn. The parameters evaluated were feed intake, average daily gain, and feed conversion rate. The average daily intake was 8.19% higher for the group supplemented with aroma (1.027 kg/d/lamb vs. 0.949 kg/d/lamb). On the other hand, the initial and final weights of the two groups were recorded, and it was observed that the average daily gain of the treatment group was higher than the control group (0.342 kg/d/lamb vs. 0.289 kg/d/lamb). Finally, FLUIDAROM 1084 improved the feed conversion rate of the aroma-supplemented group compared to the control group (3.007 vs. 3.280).
The results obtained support the strategy of using flavors and specifically Fluidarom 1084 to improve palatability, increase feed intake in lambs and consequently improve the productive parameters of the lambs.
