Last October, NOREL S.A. sponsored the XXXIV Anaporc Symposium, The 2013 edition was focusing on pathologies and business management issues. A broad set of topics were covered, such as the situation of the swine influenza, animal welfare, responsible use of antibiotics, nutrition economics and the current and future perspectives of the market
Mr Luis Mesas, Flavours Product manager, presented the concept of “imprint” and the trial conducted by the SNiBA (Animal Nutrition and Welfare Service) on sows during gestation and lactation stages and later on in their piglets’ prestarter and starter diets; in both cases a control diet was compared to the same diet supplemented with Fluidarom 1003 (an essential oils based flavour). At the end of the trial a great productive improvement was obtained among the piglets of the Fluidarom 1003 treatment. It could be observed that the flavour had created a preferential effect that facilitated the piglets’ transition to the solid feed, especially during the first week after weaning, obtaining improvements by 29% in the ADFI and by 53% in the ADG compared to the control treatments
