Weaning is the most critical stage of swine production. During this stage the piglets, subjected to great environmental and physiological stressors, usually present low feed intake, weight loss, and higher disease incidence. The use of flavors at this phase is a common practice to enhance the attractiveness and palatability of the feed, helping in this way to increase feed intake and reduce stress. In order to assess the effect of the flavor Fluidarom 1191® (raspberry-each) on feed consumption, AUSPAC ingredients, NOREL’s distributor in Australia, carried out a field trial in a commercial farm. The trial was done during the warm season, when feed consumption is more affected by high temperatures. The trial was performed with piglets weaned at 21 and 28 days of age, lasting 5 weeks. The experimental treatments consisted of two diets, a control group with standard starter feed (T-1) and the same feed supplemented with the flavor Fluidarom 1191® (T-2) at a dose of 300 g/t. The results in the piglets weaned at 28 days showed an increase of the ADFI by 8.75% in T-2 compared to T-1, while in the piglets weaned at 21 days, it was an increase of 27.13% in T-2 compared to the control group. These results confirm that the use of this flavor is able to substantially improve feed intake during the post-weaning phase and under heat stress conditions
