Norel’s Participation in a Dairy Cow Seminar, Thailand

Stakeholders from the Thai dairy sector joined the recently held Dairy Cow Seminar in Khon Khaen province. In this geographical area, dairy production is being promoted and getting more professionalized, thanks to knowledge exchange meetings held around TMR (Total Mixed Ration), where different speakers took part. NOREL’s talk reminded farmers the main aspects to achieve top dairy cows for beating national average production levels, in terms of both milk yield and milk quality. Key points for improvement in different productive life stages were discussed, covering different life and productive stages: birth, weaning (mainly focusing on rumen development), lactation (production and efficiency) as well as the dry period. Anatomic, physiological and metabolic aspects were also taken into account, and NOREL’s feed additives and fats were presented as available tools suitable for use in TMR. The meeting left good feelings for everyone. Of course there are difficulties with improvement, but also wide opportunities that motivate us to go back soon and get to work in the farms
