The XV Conference of Animal Production organized by the Inter-professional Association of Agricultural Development (AIDA) took place in May. Several Universities presented their studies in the fields of animal nutrition, genetics, product quality, pathologies and digestive microbiology. In the animal nutrition field, the University of Barcelona presented two trials that evaluated the effects of the inclusion of Fluidarom 1003 in the diets of sows and piglets. The objective of the second trial was to test if the aromatic notes of FLUIDAROM 1003 had left preferential signals in the piglets of the sows fed with the FLUIDAROM 1003 diet, when compared with the control treatment: There were 2 groups as follows: T1 = Piglets of sows fed with the control treatment and T2 = Piglets of sows fed with Fluidarom 1003 diet. The differences were measured using a preference test, where the weaned piglets were given during 30 minutes two different feeds to choose, one treated with Fluidarom 1003 and another to which a milk-vanilla flavour was added. It was observed that the T1 piglets (from sows given control feed) ate 71.9 % of the lacto-vanilla feed (3.44 g/piglet) and 28,1 % of the Fluidarom 1003 feed(1.44 g/piglet). However, the T2 piglets (from sows given a feed with Fluidarom 1003) ate 78.6 % of the Fluidarom 1003 piglet feed (intake of 5.26 g/piglet) and 21.4 % of the feed with the lacto-vanilla flavour (1.48 g/piglet). This trial proved that the maternal conditioning with Fluidarom 1003 during the gestation final stage and lactation induces a strong feed preference in the piglets and makes the animals eat more at the post weaning period
