It was held a study on a commercial farm localized in Puebla México with the aim of measure the effect on production parameters including GUSTOR BP-70 (based on sodium butyrate) in the diet of sows in last third of gestation and during the lactation. Forty four sows Yorkshire X Landrace in one stall were randomly assigned to two treatments: T1= control diet (n=22), T2=diet with GUSTOR.BP70 1.5 kg / t of feed (n=22), the inclusion started 15 days before calving and through 21 days of lactation. The diet consisted of sorgum, corn, soybean meal, wheat bran, and vitamin and mineral premix. A week after the trial began, an outbreak of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) was presented, which implied a significant decrement in productive performance, nevertheless it was decided to continue the trial. There is not statistic difference (P>0.05) between treatments in the variables: number of piglets born alive, litter weight at birth, number of weaned piglets, survival rate and litter weight at weaning. However, there was a numerical difference in favor of treated sows with GUSTOR BP-70, 7% (7.05 vs 6.59), 4.1% (63.83 vs 61.29), 7.7% (43.94 kg vs 40.82 kg) was observed for variables: number of weaned piglets, survival rate, and litter weight at weaning, respectively. It was conclude that the use of GUSTOR BP-70 in the diet of sows in gestation and lactation, improves the production parameters
