A correct silage allows to conserve forage with nutritive values and in a similar state as when it is fresh. Quality silage is characterized for the fermentation from carbohydrates to lactic acid through an acidification process.
When the conditions are less than ideal, additives will contribute to accelerate the acidification or fermentation process, with this we will avoid microorganism’s proliferation which can weaken forage quality
Fed out phase is another critical stage for silage. When silage anaerobic atmosphere is broken the activity of aerobic microorganism and yeasts that had been inhibited during the previous acidification are restarted. All of them are responsible of the silage’s temperature rise once opened.
In order to guarantee a good forage preservation, Norel has developed a new range of products for silage. These products are based on a combination of specific acids for each silage phase. Forrasil is a liquid preservative designed to apply during silo manufacturing. It causes a rapid drop in pH, helping to maintain the forage quality. Frontsil and Unisil are preservatives (liquid and powder, respectively) designed to avoid secondary fermentations, once silo is open (Frontsilo), and after each extraction and use in the unifeed (Unisil).
Norel expands its product portfolio for ruminants with the launch of these three silage preservatives
