Organized by the Poultry Research Foundation and the World Poultry Science Association, the 23rd edition of the Australian Poultry Science Symposium (APPS) was held last February at the University of Sydney, Australia. The meeting focused on nutrition, health and welfare, with an interesting part on the comparison between the so called conventional and free range production systems and their effects on performance, gut health and gut development. Another session was called “Feed additives: Mythbusters”. Last but not least, Juan José Mallo and Mathieu Cortyl from Norel had the pleasure to present a poster with the title “Effect of a Protected combination of sodium butyrate and essential oils (Natesse) on broiler performance and jejunum epithelium development”
