Presence of Fluidarom 1003 in Mother’s Milk

July 30, 2015

Several studies indicate how some flavors can pass from the mother’s milk and condition the preference of the newborns for those same flavors. Norel S.A performed a study with the SNiBA and the Chemical Analysis Laboratory (SAQ) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona to prove if the substances Eugenol, Anethole and Cinnamaldehyde, contained in Fluidarom 1003, could  be detected in the sows’ milk. The trial was performed with two sow groups in the  third stage of gestation and during lactation. The first group (T-1) was fed a control diet and the second group (T-2) the same diet supplemented with Fluidarom 1003. During lactation, samples of the sows’ milk were collected and preserved frozen until the moment of analysis in the lab. The analysis was performed with a Chromatograph connected to a Mass Spectrometry Detector with an electron impact ionization source. The results confirmed the presence of the three substances (Eugenol, Anethol and Cinnamaldehyde) in the milk of the sows fed the diet supplemented with Fluidarom 1003 (T-2) and the absence in the control group (T-1). Based on the obtained results, we can affirm that these three components of Fluidarom 1003 can pass to sows’ milk and, therefore, condition the preference of the piglets at the moment of weaning
