The treatments were: sodium butyrate protected with palm stearine (GUSTOR BP70) and calcium butyrate (CB). A total of 2490 White Leghorn (BV 300) laying hens (38 weeks old) were used in this experiment. They were housed in 30 identical pens (10 pens per treatment). Both groups received the same dose of butyric acid (280 g\/MT) for a period of 16 weeks. Responses were compared with a non supplemented treatment. From week 38 eggs were collected for the next 16 weeks.
