This propriety is the main reason of its use as toxin binder. It\u00b4s important to take CEC into account to know the efficacy of a product. However, a high CEC doesn\u00b4t mean a better product; above certain levels, the affinity clay-mycotoxin could be lower and can bind some nutrients too.<\/p>\n<p>The objective was to check that Toxinor has a properly CEC, below this critical level.&nbsp; An analysis was performed with ammonium acetate method. Result was 45,8 meq\/100 g. Some authors settle that above 80 meq\/100g can be lower the affinity of montmorillonites for aflatoxins (Barrientos-Vel\u00e1zquez et al., 2016), while others suggest that a correct CEC in clays can be established at 70 meq\/100g (Dixon et al., 2008).
